![]() The usual suspects are in the adjustment lineup: color, tone, and detail adjustments but you’ll also find options for editing metadata and for adding image or text watermarks. If you like to keep the stylus in one hand and the other hand on the keyboard, you’ll find that there’s a keyboard shortcut for almost everything. ![]() The interface is imminently customizable, with “unpinnable” panels draggable tabs collapsible sidebars and a dark, low-distraction theme. With AfterShot Pro 3, Corel is challenging even the most established apps in the processing-and-management category. ![]() But if you haven’t yet decided on a processing-and-management system, or if you just love to dip your hands into digital color, you owe it to yourself to check out Corel’s latest release of AfterShot Pro. And if you have a DSLR, you’ve probably settled down with a favorite RAW processor. Now that everyone with at least a smartphone has become a “photographer,” you probably have an image-management system already. Definitely not worth considering if you have a lot of work to do with migrating images across from an existing DAM setup. To be honest I'd say you're better off saving money and looking to RawTherapee, Darktable or Lightzone, which all offer better performance in most editing areas, with similar DAM capabilities. I did eventually get a better result, but only after spending time tweaking various adjustments. Editing is not all that great either - the sharpen tool is pretty awful - it looks like there's bacteria growing everywhere with the bad application across smooth image areas (even Photos outperforms it here) - or you can just end up with colour noise. Organising tools are rather confusing and cumbersome for a start. It's OK, and probably alright if you're looking to start out with a new DAM/Editor. I was hoping for something better than Photos, and better performing than Lightroom, but Aftershot 3 does not fulfil either of those. I wish I hadn't paid for the upgrade to Pro from the bundle purchase of the standard version.
